This begins a series of blog posts hopefully to highlight belief systems affecting healthcare seemingly in disarray…legislative boondoggles…proverbial tails wagging the dog. In a previous post, I proposed data that demonstrated the lack of evidence of the need for more continuing education – a la the “MATE Act”. Yet seemingly politicians ostensibly fawning for the admiration of their electorate opined otherwise.
We seemingly live in a world where appearance is more important than reality…the “upside down”…where everything is the polar opposite of what is portrayed.
So, let’s begin. If the reader has ever participated in our opiate compliance courses, they’ll know the opiate crisis today is less about prescription but more about illicit opiate abuse. Interestingly, the United Nations published a piece addressing the fact that opium cultivation – as of November, 2023 – has declined by 95% after the United States military withdrew in 2021.
Now fancy that. Opium cultivation has dropped 95% after the US military withdrew from Afghanistan!?
There are no conspiracy theories but there are also no coincidences. In the face of shifting preference from opium based products to synthetics (fentanyl) it doesn’t seem so far fetched.
But what are the chances? Are your eyes open yet?
